Nickel Plate Heritage Railroad is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit operating vintage trains and railbikes along the historic Nickel Plate Road. We’re seeking a Director of Events to lead planning and execution of our year-round themed train rides and railbike experiences, including Reindeer Express, murder mysteries, tastings, and more.
Key Responsibilities
Own the annual event and railbike calendar, themes, and run-of-show
Plan logistics, timelines, and staffing for all events
Coordinate vendors (catering, beverage, entertainment, décor)
Create checklists and standards for setup, tear-down, and guest experience
Supervise part-time Event Coordinators and a Customer Service & Event Admin Assistant
Partner with the Executive Director and Operations Manager to align events with safety, revenue, and mission goals
Qualifications
5+ years in events, attractions, hospitality, or related field
Proven experience planning and running complex, multi-part events
Strong organizer and clear communicator, comfortable leading teams in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
