We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) Registered Nurse to join our team in Morristown, NJ. In this role, you will deliver exceptional, patient-centered care to individuals recovering from anesthesia following surgical procedures. The ideal candidate possesses strong clinical judgment, adaptability in high-acuity environments, and a commitment to safety and excellence.
Key Responsibilities:Patient Assessment & Monitoring:
Conduct thorough assessments of post-operative patients across all age groups (pediatric to geriatric).
Monitor vital signs, airway status, level of consciousness, and pain control continuously.
Clinical Care Delivery:
Provide critical post-anesthesia care, including airway management, hemodynamic monitoring, and pain intervention.
Respond swiftly and appropriately to emergencies and changes in patient condition.
Patient & Family Support:
Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and their families.
Educate patients on post-operative care, expectations, and discharge instructions.
Documentation & Compliance:
Document assessments, care plans, interventions, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner.
Comply with HIPAA, patient safety protocols, and regulatory standards.
Team Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with the surgical and recovery teams to ensure seamless patient care.
Support unit operations and assist colleagues as needed.
Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) Support (if applicable):
Review and verify pre-operative testing for completeness and appropriateness.
Address missing or questionable test results proactively.
Professional Development:
Remain engaged in continuing education and skill enhancement.
Contribute to performance improvement initiatives and evidence-based practice in the PACU.
Licensure: Active RN license in New Jersey or compact state - Required
Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in PACU or Critical Care - Required
Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS - Required ; CCRN or CPAN - Preferred
Education: Associate degree in Nursing - Required ; BSN - Preferred
